National Park Ambassador: Heritage Guardian
Meet Alex Hernandez, regional program manager for the National Heritage Areas program based outside of Denver, CO. Alex works with National Heritage Area staff to make sure they have the federal funding needed to complete community projects for heritage tourism, conservation, historic preservation, recreation or education initiatives.

Alex’s day-to-day occasionally involves hiking the backcountry trails of @rockynps to identify archeological sites and sometimes, she sees an elk. Casual.

As @nationalparkservice National Heritage Areas Regional Program Manager in Denver, Colorado, Alex Hernandez finds great joy in helping communities preserve their local heritage. She helps tell the oral histories of underrepresented stories, develops interpretive signs along trails, and curates preservation plans for historic buildings.
