At the January 19, 2013 meeting of the South Park National Heritage Area Board of Directors, the Board voted to approve $53,262 in grant awards to 11 organizations that forward the goals and objectives of the Heritage Area. This is the first year that the Heritage Area has awarded grants to the local community but it hopes to increase the available amount in the future. Projects selected for funding include the rehabilitation of the Clesson Cabin in Alma, the continuation of the Mosquito Range Heritage Initiative’s successful Rare Plants & Trails program, and support for the annual Boreas Pass Railroad Day. Recipient organizations include government entities, non-profits, as well as the Park County Re-2 School District. You can stay updated on the progress of these grant projects by visiting the Heritage Area website.
